Research & Theory and Context

Final Major Project Leaflet Research.

This is an eye catching advert as it had bright colours on the background. It also has different fonts to get the viewer more engaged into the leaflet. It shows what can be done with the package and the price it will be for 12 nights / 13 days. It also gives the contact information for the travel agents which are giving that trip for that price. So you can easily contact them and not have to worry about trying to find out what travel agent is giving it out for that much. The pictures used in the leaflet for Dubai is the most expensive hotel in Dubai. This would grab the viewers attention as they can see the best hotel in the country. This can also show the viewers that maybe the building in the background is an important and significant building to Dubai.

This leaflet gives simple information out for what the hotel gives out. This is a positive thing as it says what is there and what they can do. They also give contact information in case they need to get called for an emergency. They also show them the area it is in e.g. the mountains the people who are there. The negatives about the leaflet is that there is a lot of text. I personally think that there shouldn’t be that much information on that leaflet but more pictures. I say this because a leaflet should also have pictures and the same amount of information. But this leaflet has too much information and only 5 pictures.

Research trip

We visited the city of London on the 13th of March of 2018. This is when we were visiting the museum of London. We got off 2 stops away from the museum. This was so we can get a view of the area around the museum. This also allowed us to get pictures for our research. The pictures we got were taken so they can go onto the research part of our blog. This would allow the examiner which is looking at the blog to know you did research into what you are doing and the area you are doing to.

Research own

The places I researched on myself was London Eye, Buckingham palace, 10 Downing street and Hyde Park. These places are the top places tourist visit in the city of London. I visited them on the 25th of April which was a Wednesday. I went on that day as it was my day off and I knew that the places I have decided to go to will be empty early in the morning.  This allowed me to get more detailed pictures and allowed me to get a better understanding of the area as well.

Reflection on research

What I will do with my understanding on the research I have done is that I will gather it all up and combine it into a certain way this is because it will make it easier for me to understand the work and whoever else is looking at my work. I decided to add all the research I have done onto the research section of my blog. This is so anyone visiting my blog can understand the steps I have done and how I got to where I got to. This makes it easier for me and anyone else to go back and retrace steps on how I did something. This has also made me understand what different target audiences will read and what they won't. My target audience is young adults and tourists from different countries. I noticed that they would like to read short text which gives them enough detail. This is why I researched on leaflets which tourists look at as it will give me a understanding on what they look for.

Influence of research

The research has influenced my design as the leaflets I had seen had too much information and not enough of simple text which will help someone around an area. I used the same type throughout the work as I noticed that most leaflets which are been handed around and leaflets on the internet have one or two different text types. This may be due to the fact that they used different fonts for different things in the leaflets. An example is giving the name of the place may be in a bolder text and then also underlined and made bold as well. Whereas on my work I decided to have one text throughout the whole leaflet which wouldn’t make the reader find it complicated to understand what is trying to be said.
My research is based on my target audience. This is because I wanted to research on what people from young adults and young parents like and what they don’t like. As people have different tastes of leaflets, text types, words and phrases. I decided to give my work a little simple look as all the other leaflets I had seen had complicated English which would make it harder for people around the world understand what is being said and what they need to know.
